FIVE YEARS SINCE THE COLLAPSE OF NOVA ENGLISH SCHOOL IN JAPAN.

26 - 10 - 2007 - NEVER FORGET!

SING ALONG FRIENDS.

CITIZENS OF TOKYO WALTZ IN THE STREETS WITH JOY AT THE NEWS THAT 1000 ENGLISH TEACHERS LATE ON THEIR RENT ARE GOING HOME

Five years. Can you actually believe it? I can't myself. Hard to believe it's five years friends. What are your memories of the collapse of Nova y'all.

The collapse of Nova English school was dramatic, surprising, heart - breaking, bittersweet, and down right a crazy time in Tokyo Town friends. Do y'all remember it? I sure do friends.

Sometimes good things come from bad things. For example, I helped a couple of the young English teachers with a roof over their head, food in their stomachs and other things too friends, but I won't share all that here, maybe in a future podcast.

The collapse of this very special eikaiwa shool sent shock waves through the Lost in Translation generation who came to Tokyo Town with 10 dollars in their pocket and a gleam in their eye with Wapanese dreams of living in Japan. Sadly for many of them, their Wapanese dreams were cut very short and many were forced to go home to work at their local 7-11 as cleaners. Some were even forced to live at the ass end of Saitama to carry on their English teaching - can you believe that? Well friends, they accepted their plight and did it.

If only there were English teachers around today with the character of those folks, the ESL industry would be doing just fine.

Take care friends, and be sure to find a lonely English teacher with big hooters on this anniversary and make her feel comfortable to help her deal with the memories of what can happen in the industry.
